B&Q has come together with seven UK businesses as the Climate Group to help reduce the UK's carbon dioxide emissions.

Companies in the group are B&Q, Barclaycard, British Gas, Marks & Spencer, O2, Royal Sun Alliance, Sky and Tesco.

Each member is offering measures to encourage households to reduce their emissions by one tonne over the course of a campaign, 'We're in this together'.

As a member of the group, B&Q has pledged to help consumers reduce their carbon dioxide footprint with a range of easy-to-install insulation products.

Ian Cheshire, CEO of B&Q, said: "We're delighted to be part of the 'We're in this Together' campaign, and enable our customers to make a real difference to the environment, whilst saving themselves up to £220 a year."

Perhaps instead of forcing manufacturers to cut corners in order to reduce wholesale costs, some of these companies should try to encourage better quality products, this in order to make them last longer and therefore reduce the vaste waste that is currently going into landfill.
I often ask myself where all those faulty far east product returns end up, I am sure that they are not shipped back for correction at the suppliers cost, as most have a built in price of obsolesence.
