Cromford Garden Centre to close

Owner says financial pressures and difficulty in securing planning permission forced sale
Cromford Garden Centre is to close on May 9.

Owner David Charlton has sold the four-acre site on the A6 south of Matlock, Derbyshire to property developers.

He cited financial pressures including increases in the minimum wage and business rates as some of the reasons for the sale.

Mr Charlton also told local papers he faced a number of difficulties in getting planning permission to extend the site and make it more appealing to customers and passing trade.
