Solvite launches new general purpose wallcoverings adhesive

Published: 28 March 2018

Wallcovering sales over the last 30 years have declined at the expense of more fashionable emulsion. In part, this is driven by DIY wallcovering skills not being handed down from one generation to the next. The skill of pasting and then folding the paper to soak and stretch before hanging has been somewhat lost!
Wallcovering manufacturers have promoted the idea of ‘feature walls’ becoming fashionable and the big game changer is the development of paste-the-wall wallcoverings where you do not have to paste, fold, soak, and allow the paper to stretch. These new wallcoverings can be just pressed and smoothed onto a wall or ceiling that has been pre-pasted.
This is where Solvite comes in with the launch of Solvite General Purpose Wallcoverings Adhesive. It is easy to apply by using a brush or a roller and unlike some ready to use pastes it does not need to be diluted dependent upon paper type. It has strong grab to stop the covering peeling back, very useful when covering ceilings, and is easy to slide and align a pattern. It can be used to hang all common paper types from lining paper through to contract vinyl’s. Finally, if you still want to hang paste-the-paper wall coverings then it is so ‘general purpose’ it will hang these too!
