The awards, organised by DIY Week and diyweek.net along with sister titles Hardware & Garden Review, Housewares and housewareslive.net, took place at the prestigious Manchester Hilton on Tuesday night.
Compered by comedian Rhod Gilbert, the glittering gala dinner was attended by hundreds of the industry's top retailers including Wilkinson, Wyevale, Focus, Homebase and Lakeland, as well as a host of the country's leading independents.
Highlights of the night included the hotly-contested Britain's Best DIY Superstore manager, won by Adrian Chapman of Focus DIY in Walsall, Britain's Best Décor Retailer, taken by Taskers and Britain's Best Garden Retailer, won by Huntingdon Garden & Leisure in Cambridgeshire.
London-based Industrial Tool Supplies walked away with the gold for Britain's Best Tool Retailer. D&G Hardware in Winchester was crowned Britain's Best Hardware Retailer and Access Locksmiths from Southampton celebrated a gold win in the Britain's Best Security Retailer category.
In housewares Wilkinson took the top spot in Britain's Best Multiple Housewares Retailer, Camp Hopson won Britain's Best Independent Department Store, Lakeland took Britain's Best Retail Website and Kate's Cookshop did the double, walking away with two awards, one for Britain's Best Cookshop and the other for Britain's Best New Retail Business.
