One of the UK’s leading paint retailers has retained a prestigious 'We invest in people' Gold accreditation from Investors in People.

Dulux Decorator Centre has received the accolade for the seventh time in its 125th anniversary year. From the very beginning, the business set up by founder JP McDougall, was underpinned by the philosophy of building lasting relationships with customers and colleagues.

Fast forward 125 years and after growing into a network of over 230 stores around the UK, Dulux Decorator Centre remains centred on the needs of colleagues and customers.

Over 90% of colleagues commented “Dulux Decorator Centre is a great place to work” and Investors in People noted “a highly motivated and engaged team of managers and colleagues”, adding that the retailer ensures a workplace with a “passion for excellence” that continues to deliver as a place of trusted leaders that are confident in the future of the business.

Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors of People, said: “Gold accreditation means that you’ve got the policies in place but more than that, it means everyone – from managing director to apprentice takes ownership for making them come to life.

“We’d like to congratulate Dulux Decorator Centre. Gold accreditation on We invest in people is a fantastic effort for any organisation.”

Managing director of Dulux Decorator Centre, John Henderson, said: “We always have, and continue to believe, that the success of your organisation begins and ends with people - not just our colleagues but our customers and local communities.

“We’re continually innovating to give colleagues opportunities to learn and grow, as we believe if we make work better for everyone, then our team of passionate experts can then make our customers’ lives easier too.

“We know Gold status was achieved by just 17 per cent of companies in 2019 - we’re particularly proud to retain the accreditation in a year that saw the introduction of a stricter criteria used by the panel to look at the very best companies that are deserving of the Gold status.”
